                                                       Testimony

                                                                                                   Kim Chang-sik

1. Family & Background

I was born in Seoul in Korea and grew up there. My father is a teacher and my mother is a pharmacist. I'm the second child among the one boy and two girls and also I'm the firstborn son. My family started to go to a church when I was in an elementary school. Now, more than 20 years, my father serves as an elder and my mother also serves as a 񀯇 in Hwakokdong Church which pastor Kim Hakman worked before. I got married with my wife now whose name Kim Younghee, my permanent partner. The Lord gave us a precious daughter named Yeain. We live all together trying to work hard for God's calling.

I had known about God and church through Sunday school. The church life was the biggest enjoyment and pleasure to me. Even my internal character had been changed through Sunday school committee. When I entered a university, I joined the youth group in my church and Gethsemane which is Sungkyunkwan University Christian Fellowship in the university. The Lord made me to learn and experience about faith concretely through these groups. Finally He made me to realize what is His calling for me and what should I do.

At that time, however, I was so afraid to become a pastor because of my lacking faith that I had a secular job for a while. But the Lord gave me an assurance again through the job. I changed my way to serve God.

2. Mission Vision

I have served youth groups in campus fields and churches. I thought I'm good at the youth group. So I have prepared many things for the youth ministry. But I knew that's only my thinking. I knew that my owner is God. Who is using me is not myself but God even though I love so much the youth. I realized that I have to do what God wants not I want and stand on where God wants not I want.

God has opened the youth ministry for me until now, so I could enjoy the work. I'll do anything God wants to me and I'll go anywhere God recommend me. If God who knows all about me wants to use me, I also want to be used for Him neither gold vessel nor silver vessel but in terms of as a "cleaned vessel". This is my pastoral vision.

I dare confess I love God. Because the Love of the Cross changed me. My biggest desire is to be a man who makes God happy. I'd like to evangelize God's Love and the Cross to the people who do not know about God. Especially, I really want that people not only Korean but every nations and tribes know the Love of God. We have lots of churches in Korea. But there are still no churches in many countries and nations. That makes me very sad. I want to run there and let them know about the Love of Christ with not saying or tongue but acting and faithfulness. I want to live as a pastor to change people into God people with His Love.

I'm still weak but I have one thing I do very well. That is the confession "If I perish, I perish" like Esther said, and "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stall, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. " like Habakkuk's prayer  in Old Testament.

These are all my faith and belief. I lift them up God for His Glory.
